MEET THE HOSTS
JAMES PAYNE
James is a podcast producer and lifelong sci-fi fan who believes there’s something worth discovering in almost every science fiction film - even the truly terrible ones. After years of debating the genre with Matt, those conversations eventually became Journey Through Sci-Fi.
On the show, James is the optimist, always ready to find the silver lining in a strange idea or ambitious swing. His tastes lean toward the thoughtful and the weird - from Planet of the Apes to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and anything with a touch of the avant-garde.
MATT WILLCOCK
Matt is a devoted sci-fi fan who grew up watching Star Trek and has a deep love for low-budget, high-concept science fiction. While James leans more Star Wars, Matt is firmly on the Star Trek side of the galaxy.
On Journey Through Sci-Fi, Matt often plays the sceptic - balancing James’s optimism with a sharper eye for what works and what doesn’t. His favourite films include Aliens and Terminator 2, though he also has a soft spot for the kind of big, ambitious sci-fi blockbuster that spectacularly flopped at the box office.
