Sunshine (2007) – Restarting the Sun
Directed by Danny Boyle, Sunshine follows a crew of astronauts sent on a mission to restart the dying Sun using a massive nuclear payload.

Based on a novella by Liu Cixin, the film imagines a future where the Sun is expanding and humanity must move Earth out of the solar system using enormous planetary engines.
The result is a massive global effort to save the planet, blending disaster movie spectacle with large-scale science-fiction worldbuilding.
Humanity’s Survival in Space
Together, Sunshine and The Wandering Earth represent two very different visions of planetary survival.
One focuses on a small group of astronauts tasked with saving humanity.
The other imagines the entire planet working together to escape extinction.
Both reflect one of the most powerful ideas in science fiction: that humanity’s future may ultimately depend on our ability to leave Earth behind.
